Hi!

My name is Simone de Jong and I am the owner and designer of Atelier Soed Idee. I live in Vaassen, a small village in the Netherlands, with my husband and son who is going to college. We are lucky enough to live in the countryside where we enjoy the outdoors with some chickens and husband's bees.

As a child I was a real crafty girl, but when I was pregnant with our son in 2000 I became addicted to cross stitch. On the internet, a world opened up for me and I discovered the great cross stitch community! In 2010 I also started designing small patterns, mostly inspired by the old sampler motifs. A year later I opened my webshop 'Atelier Soed Idee'. 'Atelier' is the French word for studio and 'Soed Idee' comes from good idea. My son used to be unable to pronounce the G properly! 😉

In 2014 I started 'Randje per Week' together with Annelies van den Bergh. We collected different borders from Annelies' sampler collection and published them every week on our blog. This became a hype in Cross Stitch world and gave my business a huge boost. After that I designed a lot of smalls and lately I've been mainly reproducing antique samplers. Although I still like to adapt Smalls from the large samplers! Last year my book 'GH1857' went viral and since then I've been getting more and more international fame.
