In 2017, I organised the SAL "Vakje per Week" together with my friend Annelies van den Bergh. We took all kinds of motifs from her collection of samplers, which we offered in a box every week. In addition to cross stitching, darning patterns and a number of special stitches are also used. The book has recently been reprinted and is now also available in English.
Details:
Each box is 29 crosses wide and 49 crosses high. We have put together a set of 8 boxes next to each other and 6 rows of boxes below each other. The whole is framed by a beautiful border and then becomes 283 crosses wide and 339 crosses high.
Dimensions 283W x 339H crosses:
The pattern is stitched in two colors, but of course you can give it your own twist and make it in any color or number of colors you want. You can also adjust the layout of the boxes to your own liking or add boxes yourself. Annelies, for example, has embroidered 3 boxes next to each other on a 20 cm (7 7/8”) wide linen band.
If you make the sampler as we offer it, you will need:
Fabric of your choice (for example Zweigart Belfast Natural 32 count), size 27” x 36”. This is broad, but then you also have room for your own creativity.
Floss: 12 skeins of the main color and 3 skeins of a second color DMC (eg DMC 815 and 930).
If you are going to work on linen banding, just like Annelies, you will need 2 meters of 20 cm wide banding.
